A system hard wearing enough to be used on a floor where Perkins Diesel Engines are to be refurbished and serviced. Even though the flooring was integral to the presentation of the facility, it was also important that the proposed system was cost effective.

Additional specifications included a detailed floor layout using contrasting colours and line markings to form a grid of servicing bays. It was also important that the floor would be easy to clean and maintain. Elgood were pleased to provide advice.

The Highbuild Coating is comprised of a low viscosity Solvent Free Epoxy primer and two coloured coats of our Britdura Solvent Free Epoxy Floor Coating. All three coats were applied by trowel. The low viscosity primer is ideal for use on new concrete due to its moisture resistant properties but is equally effective for treating an old and worn concrete.

Shotblasting was used to remove the existing coating. As a consequence of the floor having been shot blasted on a previous occasion, diamond grinding was used to alleviate the surface profile.

The floor was cleaned using an industrial vacuum.

The Britdura 750 Highbuild Epoxy Floor Coating (750 microns to 1 mm) was laid in the colours Slate Grey and French Blue.

Yellow lines were installed to highlight a grid of servicing bays and hazard hatching was installed at entrances to the stock and servicing areas. The floor was given a fine slip resistant finish.
