Industrial Flooring Project Scope.
There were two sections to the 600 sq m floor. An area which was in a poor condition and another which was satisfactory.
The old and worn section was comprised of a number of uneven slabs. The floor was also heavily soiled and had a raised area of quarry tiles. The aim was to convert the area into a new assembly facility. In order to provide a fully operational floor and to be in keeping with the adjoining factory, the concrete had to be re-surfaced.
We retain a small in-house team of full time employees to install our floors.
We have access to the most advanced rapid drying resurfacing screeds.
Our client is extending their facilities and are knocking through to old parts of the factory. The concrete in the old factory is in a poor condition and is very uneven.
The aim was to create as seamless as possible transition from the modern side of the factory to the old factory which is being upgraded.
Elgood Industrial Flooring were employed to prepare the concrete, to smooth the uneven slabs and provide a continuous and uniform appearance between the two buildings.
Elgood Flooring used milling to reduce high points on the slabs and generally across the floor to to provide a clean concrete base. We used high quality rapid drying industrial levelling and smoothing screeds to resurface the concrete and raised the floor to meet the adjoining building.
Preparation for Industrial Flooring
With the levels varying greatly, to reduce the disparity we decided to use planning / milling. In places up to 20 – 30mm were removed and 10mm was removed generally.
The surface profile was improved by rotary grinding. Shot-blasting was used to clean the concrete.
The preparation was carried out over a weekend within tented environment. The installation had a duration of eight days.
Industrial Flooring system.
Industrial strength rapid drying resurfacing screed with an average thickness of 28mm.
The floor was finished with our Britdura 750 Solvent Free Epoxy Floor Coating to our client’s layout. This is applied using a scratch trowel technique to ensure an even distribution of resin.
